The Art of the Seasonal Reset
Small Shifts = Sweeter living
Time moves so quickly now. Days blur, routines overlap, and sometimes the only thing reminding me what month we’re in is the seasonal display at the grocery store.
I find myself noticing the small signs first like a puffball mushroom spotted along a trail. The soft shift of my two huskies’ coats. The way the light hits different at the dinner table, or basketball season beginning again with my son (and the endless conversations about the basketball shoes he needs this year).
These are the things that remind me the new season is here.
Decorating has become my way to embrace the change. It’s subtle and almost instinctive - like reaching for a wool blanket to throw over the couch or swapping the citrus cleaner for the cedar one from Mrs. Greenway’s so the bathroom smells like a forest after rain. I stop by A Natural Home in Elora for Pulka Pods & fill a bowl on the kitchen table, just to bring a little of the outdoors in. None of these changes are big or dramatic, but together they quietly transform the feeling of my home. And if I ever need inspiration, I wander to The Friendly Society, a downtown Elora restaurant with style for miles. Their space always seems to hold the season so effortlessly, reminding me how beautiful simple shifts can be.
What I’ve come to love about this time of year & what I try to bring into my work is the idea that our homes can help us stay close to the moment we’re in. Cleaning for me is part of that. It’s not just about wiping the surfaces. It’s about intentionally resetting a space so it can welcome what’s next.
So as autumn settles in, throw on a sweater and put on my Fall Ritual playlist. Let the house fill with the smell of whatever is simmering on the stove. Leave the windows open long enough for the cool air to move through your space. This season doesn’t ask for much: only that we notice, slow down, and enjoy where we are.
If you’d like a hand in creating that same sense of reset in your home, our Fall Reset was made for this moment. A way to let the season in.
Always the Freshest
